Have we ever felt that we are close to God? Have we ever thought of maintaining a intimate relationship with him? We have so many of our worldly relationships whom we are closer with. We love them,do things for them and strive to be closer with them everyday. But are we doing the same with God? We expect all the good things from him and we thank him for his wonders and that’s it. The desire to have a closer relationship with him is nowhere in our minds. We are much focused on the worldly things that we forget that we should have a deeper relationship with God our Savior.

Why is it necessary to be closer with God? Romans 11:36 says, “All things were created by him, through him and for him”. We were made by him and through him and for him. Every day and each thing we do, it is for him and it should be done for the glory of God. But are we really doing everything for him? Are we really considering his will in anything we do? Do we have that realization that we are for him and we need to walk in his purpose?

Knowing that we are for him and we are expected to walk in his purpose, makes us come to the realization that we have to be closer with God to know him,love him and walk in his ways.When we desire God first, when we long to spend time in his presence, when we yearn to fulfill his purpose, when we make a decision to obey his commands and to walk in his will, this desire will in turn be pleasing in his sight and he will give us grace to make us take a step closer to him everyday.

Being closer with him each passing day, makes us repent of our old ways and bear fruits in order of repentance. We no longer commit the same old sins and we desire to read his word more and pray more. As God knows the intentions and desire of our hearts, he will give the grace to withstand the attacks of Satan and world and make us stand steadfast in his will. We will start tasting the love of good, the joy that fills our heart, that peace that fills our mind and the happiness of the relationship with him. It will melt and mold us to the person he wanted us to be and we will know how to walk in his ways perfectly.

When we seek God more in our lives, the other things which we desire will automatically happen when it is in his will. He can do exceedingly abundant things when we are focused on him. So my dear friends, today lets make a decision to take a step closer to him. Every day lets start doing something which will lead us closer to him. Lets start reading his word more,pray more, let us not sin, let us not give in to temptation,let us strive to walk in his ways and to do all for the glory of him! Amen!
