Life was not always a bed of roses for some of us. There had been so much thorns which had pricked and torn the life out of us. It had been devastating to go through so much pain. Hearts were broken and tears had rolled out like an ocean. There was no strength to even shed tears, lament or brood over it. Souls were weary and heavily burdened. Brokenness was everywhere.Normal life was a question mark and the thoughts of “What is next” or “What is my future” was recurring. There was negativity everywhere and no hope.Lives were impacted so much that was no positiveness to even think of the goodness in the brokenness.
But can anything good come out of pain? Does our pain serve a purpose? What was God trying to teach us through the storms? In Romans 8:28, the Word of God says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them”. What an encouraging word! It brings so much hope that whatever storm we might have encountered, God has and will turn it out for our very own good. But are we trying to focus on the goodness that God is showing in our brokenness? Either we brood over the storm that has ended or wait for the rainbow to show up. We are at two extremes. But do you know that in either of the above that we miss to see some good things in between? We miss to see the clear skies, the gentle breeze, the fresh air before seeing the colorful rainbow.
What are those goodness in that brokenness? Can we focus on that instead of dwelling on our brokenness? Here it goes:
1)Closeness with God
Now you know that you cannot believe Man and God is the only one whom we can rely on. Our prayer life will have immense growth and now we will come to a point that we do not need anyone else than God. Our hope is in God and on him alone. This in turn will strengthen our hearts and mind and will make us stronger and sharper. We will now know to walk in the will of God rather than on our own self folly. This is one of the best things which comes out of brokenness which is beneficial forever and which in turn produces many other good things! Our faith has increased, we become close with God, our prayer life becomes regular and our devotion to the things of God becomes our first priority.
2)Increase in Strength
You might have been a strong person previously or a weak one. In either case after you have come out of the storm, you will notice that your strength had increased. You will now come to the realization that there is nothing you cannot manage. Struggles had increased your strength and made you a tough, strong willed person. Isn’t this a good thing? A weak person will be scared of storms in future and lose their focus, but to a person who had become stronger through the storms-dealing with issues in the future will become a petty thing.
3)Becoming Wise
This is one of the best goodness in the brokenness. Yes, you have acted foolishly in the past and took so many wrong decisions which had led to these consequences. You will no longer repeat the same mistake. You will no longer take an unwise decision. Your wisdom would have increased on focusing on the pros and cons before taking an important decision. Every move you make will be cautious and triple checked. No hastiness and no foolishness. King Solomon from the bible talks of Wisdom in the book of proverbs as finding treasures in life. He says nothing can be compared to wisdom in a wise person. A wise person will know when to talk and not to, when to act quickly, when to take a decision and how to. Brokenness will change you to become a wise person. No one would want to go through a storm again to suffer the same thing. Wisdom will either help you to be aware of a wrong thing, or to act against it or to come out of it. You would now the difference between purposeless drama and true things. You will now know to clutter the unwanted things in life. You will now become mature to understand the complicated things. You would now react less and work more. You would not have realized any of the above before you were broken. Brokenness brings out some life changing things! Isn’t this wonderful?
4)Becoming Thankful
We would now know to appreciate the little things in life. Many things which we had overlooked in the past would now seem to be valued. Many things which we had been not thankful before, we would be grateful now. Brokenness helps us to appreciate the little things and the things which we need to be thankful for. Isn’t this a wonderful virtue?
My dear brothers and sisters, anytime when you go through a storm and think that life has left you broken, there is always hope from God. He shows us hope in the form of his word and wants us to focus on the goodness in the brokenness. When we focus on these goodness in our brokenness, we will soon see clearly the bigger rainbow. Little goodness pave way for the bigger ones. Smaller things of purpose lead to the bigger purpose. So what are you waiting for? Pray and dwell on the word of God and he will show the purpose in you pain, the goodness in your brokenness. God Bless You!
