We, the creations of God expect so many things from him. We want him to answer our prayers. We want him to bless us as and when we like. We want him to do everything for us. We never think about what we are doing,what we are asking and to whom we are rightfully asking. Yet, God in all his sovereignty does everything for us. But does God expects anything from us? Have we ever thought from his perspective? Interestingly, most of us would not have pondered much on it. We take him for granted that he loves us and he does things for us even when we don’t deserve it. But can there be anything that God requires of us? Are there things which God wants us to do? Yes, below are the significant things from the bible which God will love when men on earth do it!

1.Obeying his Word

The first and foremost instruction for any Christian is to obey the instructions which God and his son Jesus has set for us. God loves people who are obedient to his words and who does them in their day to day life. When we obey his word and do not sin, God is pleased with us and blesses us much more than we ask him! (Reference verses- Exodus 19:5, Deuteronomy 11:1, John 15:9,14, John 14: 15 etc)

2.Having the Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is not something to do with getting scared about God. It is the respect and reverential fear which arises when we think about him and when we hear his name. It is the awe and respect for his word that we get when we are caught in temptation to sin. It is that thing which keeps us away from moving in our sinful nature. It is that thing which makes obey his word and behave Godly. When we say we are “God-fearing”, we have to mean it. It is doing the things that he loves and not doing the things that he hates. (Reference verses-Psalm 112:1,115:13,128:1-4,Proverbs 10:27, 19:23 25:12, Isaiah 33:6 etc)

3.Being Humble

So we obey his commandments and we have the fear of the Lord, we do everything which he likes and when we do all these things, a horn called pride steps in our head. This is one of the most dangerous sin. The great angel Lucifer, was thrown to hell because he was proud. Pride goes before downfall and God hates people who are proud. Instead, God loves people who are humble and make themselves humble. Time and time again, there are so many examples from bible where people were proud and they were cast down. But humble people were lifted up. (Reference verses -Isaiah 2:12,23:9,James 4:6,4:10,Jeremiah 9:23, Philippians 2:3, Proverbs 8:13,11:2,13:10, 16:5,16:1816:1918:12 etc)

4.Spending Time with God

In my previous article, I have spoken about getting closer to God each day.Wanting to be closer with God can only happen when we spend time with him. We spend much of our time in our worldly activities and we spend hardly an hour with him. Reading the word of God, praying, praising and thanking him is an essential part of christian life. God loves when we spend time with him. (Reference verses- Psalm 1:2, Matthew 6:6,33, Romans 10:17,Luke 10:38-42,1 Peter 2:2, Psalm 119:105,Romans 8:28 etc)

5.Walking in the Will of the Lord

When you keep doing the above things, there is a little chance that you miss the will of God. God loves when we walk according to his will. When you have a deeper relationship with him, God directs, provides and counsels us in the way to go. (Reference verses- Proverbs 3:5-6, Ephesians 5:15-20, Hebrews 10:36,Matthew 7:21)

6.Doing Good Deeds

So you have done all of the above, but you are selfish and keep it to yourself. You do not serve others, pray for them, help them in their need, etc. A good deed can be anything from helping the poor, helping in home,church, at work, being merciful to an unjust person etc. Doing good deeds brings glory and honor to his name. God loves when you serve people cause he himself sent his son Jesus to serve others. (Reference verses- Matthew 5:16, Colossians 3:17, 1 Timothy 6:18, Hebrews 6:10 etc)

My dear friends,before asking anything from the Lord, let us examine ourselves if we are walking worthy of his calling and if we are doing the things which he likes. Let us try one step at a time to do the things which he requires of us! God Bless You! Amen!
