The regular prayers of human beings has many requests sent to God to obtain various things in Life. It usually goes like this, “Lord, I need this blessing”, “Lord, Please bless me”, “Lord, Pour out your blessings on me” etc. Never once do we ponder whether we as a Person are being a “Blessing” to others. Is our Life a blessing to others? Are you a blessing to someone today?

The Word of god says in Philippians 2:4 that,Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. What a meaningful word. It explains that we should not be bothered only about “me, myself and my blessing” but should be interested to look out for the needs of others. This does not mean that we have to help someone financially only or doing some physical help like cleaning,washing etc. This also means that we can be blessing to others by motivating them, sharing love, being a source of comfort, showing them kindness and the best of all “Praying for them”.

When we go through pain, we think that we are the only ones who are suffering and all others are living happily. But do you know that there are people who go through tremendous pain than you? Even after seeing that, we are selfish enough to think only about us. In that circumstances, have we ever realized we could be a blessing to that person by saying words of encouragement and hope? You should see that person’s face light up when you comfort and console them and make them see your life as an example of living through turmoil and suffering. Yes, even in this you can be a blessing to someone.

In so many areas of our life, we can be a blessing to someone. May it be work,home,church or society-someone out there needs you and you can be a blessing to them. If you have immense peace inside, you can definitely bring peace on the outside. If you are cheerful, you can bring joy to someone. If you are in pain, you can be a source of comfort to someone. You never know the impact you have made in someone’s life such as even sharing a big smile.

This reminds of an old beautiful hymn. The lyrics goes on like this,

Out in the highways and byways of life,

Many are weary and sad;

Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,

Making the sorrowing glad.

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,

Out of my life may Jesus shine;

Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,

Make me a blessing to someone today.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love,

Tell of His pow’r to forgive;

Others will trust Him if only you prove

True, every moment you live.

Give as ’twas given to you in your need,

Love as the Master loved you;

Be to the helpless a helper indeed,

Unto your mission be true.

Hence my dear friends, Lets strive to build our life in such a way that it sheds light to someone’s life. Lets pray to God to make us a blessing to someone today. When we focus on being a blessing, God will sure bring our very own blessings! Amen! God Bless You!
